About me

I started out my career doing everything I could to help other people on an individual basis, and I am very lucky to count a lot of meaningful relationships from my life (both professional and personal, and as the supporter and "supportee"). I also believe individual support can only go so far. I now put my skills and energy into freelancing with organisations working to better our communities, systems and ideas.

I am a big fan of making sense of something complicated, making things work, and getting stuff done. And doing all of that while caring about people, communities, and nature.

Someone I respect and look up enormously to once told me:

"What you don't realise is unusual about you Elodie, is you can do both:

you're extremely capable but also emotionally intelligent and empathetic".

I was chuffed (what a compliment!), but in hindsight I'm also a bit sad. I'd like to live in a world where it's more usual to be efficient, practical and capable while also being kind, compassionate and empathetic. Or at least, for more people who have this balance of skills to be recognised. As a freelancer, I've enjoyed working with many others who share this hope - doing things well AND kindly.

When I'm not working you are likely to find me cold water swimming, curled up with a recipe book and a cup of tea, or overthinking something.

My biggest hopes for 2025 were to:

  • adopt a dog that needs a home (we now have a wonderful greyhound called Badger)

  • get my local community garden fully planted (this one was trickier, but there are some beautiful flowers)

  • finish training to become a yoga facilitator (I did it!)

In 2026, I'm hoping for:

  • my first home, which is on the cards with my partner as a plan to get a back garden for Badger the dog

  • more collaborations and connections in work and through my local neighbourhood

  • to successfully become an expert DIYer without breaking my new house
