My approach to pricing

Pricing transparency is really important to me - organisational budgets are precious and I want to be fair and inclusive about how I charge for my work.

It's also important to me that my prices reflect that:

  • as a self-employed person I have to cover all the costs and risk of not being employed

  • the work I do often has whole organisation impact (policies, processes, training, etc) and covers various statutory requirements - it's senior level work!

  • I am often fully booked and clients highly rate my work - the vast majority of my incoming work is by word of mouth recommendation

Research Report - Freelancer Day Rates

A research project I designed, conducted, analysed and wrote up in March-May 2026, investigating varying day rates of freelancers who are part of the network "Freelancers Get Sh*t Done"

The hope is that this will inform both freelancers and clients hiring freelancers on what "typical" rates are for different services, and support us in setting approproate budgets and quotes.

My Day Rates

My rates are benchmarked against other freelancers and scaled to size and type of organisation:

Please note that in 2026 I will be reviewing my day rates in line with increasing amounts of high-level work I am doing for organisations in writing their statutory policies, which carries a lot of organisational responsibility and risk management.
